Zinc Electroplating

NuTec Metal Finishing, LLC offers zinc electroplating on iron and steel parts of many shapes and sizes.  We offer both rack and barrel plating so that a wide variety of part sizes can be accommodated.  A zinc coating is applied to parts as a barrier coating.  The zinc finish not only gives the part protection from the environment, but also gives a lustrous sacrificial coating that is aesthetically appealing.  After plating, a chromate is applied to passivate the zinc surface and prevent white corrosion.  We offer clear (blue), yellow (gold), and black colored chromates.

Unless otherwise instructed, NuTec applies a clear (blue) chromate over the zinc finish.  Unless otherwise specified, NuTec applies a coating thickness of between .0002” and .0005”.  Thicknesses above .0005” are difficult to plate and cannot be achieved with all parts.  For thicknesses above .0005” we recommend mechanical plating/galvanizing.
